Mi Trip - Screens

List of Screens

  1.  Trip itinerary  -  a list of all 'Events' in the Trip.
  2.  Item list  -  a list of 'Items' relating to one 'Event'.
  3.  FIL_Link  -  link to a JPEG or similar file, pictures, scanned receipts, bookings, etc.
  4.  MAP_Link  -  link to a screen showing Google Maps for a set location. 
  5.  VID_Link  -  link to a Video (uploaded from YouTube, from phone, etc.)
  6.  WEB_Link  -  link to a WebSite.
  7.  Event Maintenance  -  ADD or UPDATE an Event in the Trip itinerary.
  8.  Item Maintenance   -  ADD or UPDATE and Item in an Event.
  9.  Trips List  -  see all Trips, change Trip, ADD Trips, DELETE Trips, alter Trip settings.
  10.  Trip Settings  -  update the Trip name, Date/Time format, Currency conversions. 
  11.  Expenses  -  get a list of all Trip expenses and a summary by Expense Accounts.

 



Trip Itinerary

      This screen lists all the 'Events' in your Trip (scrollable).

  Features :

  1.  Top Banner   -   shows today's day, date and Trip.
  2.  'Trips' button   -   list of all Trips.
  3.  'Settings' button   -   trip settings screen.
  4.  'Add Event' button   -   add a new 'Event' to this itinerary (defaults to today's Date/Time).
  5.  'Expenses' ($) button   -   list of all 'Expenses' for the Trip.
  6.  'Rate App' button   -   rate this App on Google Play. 
  7.  'Help' button   -   online Help  
  8.  'Functions' button - other features of this App :
    • Help + Tutorial
    • Display - ALL events  :  all events within your Trip.
    • Display - TODAY'S events  :  only events with today's date.
    • Display - TODAY ONWARD events  :  events with today's date or later.
    • IMPORT - a Trip  :  a new Trip is imported from the file 'Import_A_Trip.xml'.
    • EXPORT - this Trip  :  current Trip is exported to the file 'Exported_Trip.xml'.
    • RENAME - this Trip  :  rename the current Trip on the settings screen.
    • CHANGE Trip Currency data  :  change currency conversion rates, home currency, default currency, etc, for this Trip on the settings screen.
    • CHANGE Trip settings  :  change the Date and Time format options for this Trip on the settings screen.
    • Trip EXPENSES  :  shows expenses for the current Trip.
    • Trips List  :  list of Trips where you can ADD a new Trip, DELETE a Trip or EDIT Trip settings.
    • ADD - an event (Time=NOW)  :  add a new event to this trip (the Date and Time are initially set to current Date and Time).
    • RATE this APP  :  opens Google Play website for 'Mi Trip' where you can rate and review this App.
  9.  Red Heading line - shows the display mode and the Trip.
  10.  Blue Heading lines - separate 'Events' into their Date/Place groupings. The number in the green boxes (LHS) is the number of Expenses and Link 'Items' for this Date/Place.
  11. Click -   list all Expenses and Link 'Items' for the Date/Place.
  12.  White Event lines - the number of 'Items' in this 'Event', time, Event icon and the 'Event'. 
    • Click - to list all 'Items' for this' Event'.
    • Long-Click - to 
      • EDIT this 'Event' 
      • DELETE this 'Event' 
      • ADD a new 'Event' (defaults to the same Date/Place/Time). 


Item List

      This screen lists all the 'Items' relating to a single 'Event' (scrollable).

  Features :

  1.  Top Banner   -   today's day, date and Trip.
  2.  'Home' button   -   back to the Trip itinerary (list of 'Events').
  3.  'Add Item' button   -   add a new 'Item' to this 'Event'.
  4.  'Rate App' button   -   rate this App on Google Play.
  5.  'Help' button   -   on-line help. 
  6.  'Functions' list   -   other options for this screen, eg. display options.
    • Display -ALL- items  :  all items for this event.
    • Display -CONTACT- items only  :  only items in the CONTACT item group.
    • Display -EXPENSE- items only  :  only items in the EXPENSES item group.
    • Display -INFORMATION- items only  :  only items in the INFORMATION item group.
    • Display -LINK- items only  :  only items in the LINKS item group
    • Display -PAYMENT- items only  :  only items in the PAYMENT item group
    • Display -WHERE- items only  :  only items in the WHERE item group
    • HELP + TUTORIAL
    • RATE this APP  :  opens the Google Play website for 'Mi Trip' where you can rate and review this App.   
  7.  Red Heading line   -   shows the display mode and the 'Event'.
  8.  Blue Heading lines   -   separate 'Items' into their different 'Item Groups'.
  9.  Dark Purple Heading lines   -   show the Expense Account by name.
  10.  Light Purple Item lines   -   show the 'Item Type' followed by the 'Item Data' and for expense the amount converted to your home currency.
    • Long-Click  -  to
      • EDIT this 'Item'.
      • DELETE this 'Item'.
      • ADD a new 'Item'. 
  11.  Green Item lines   -    show the 'Item Type' followed by the 'Item Data' (these items can be clicked). 
    • Click - to go to the Link specified.
    • Long-Click - to 
      • EDIT this 'Item'. 
      • DELETE this 'Item'. 
      • ADD a new 'Item'. 

  


 

FIL_Link display

     This displays a JPEG or similar file, which could be a photo, scanned map, receipt, booking confirmation, etc.

     Here it is showing a JPEG which is a screenshot from Google maps.

  Features :

  1. Top Banner - shows the FIL_Link information.
  2. Main screen - shows the JPEG (scrollable, pan-able, squeeze and expandable).
  3. 'Exit' button - return to the previous screen.

  Additional Information :

  1. The information following the 'File=' text, is the place in your phones directory structure that the file is located. The default directory that the App addresses (on your phone) is 'sdcard/Trip_APP' (this directory is created by the App when it first loads). So in the example shown above the file should be loaded into - 'sdcard/Trip_APP/Maps/Amsterdam.jpg' (on your phone).
  2. Information between 'FIL_Link :' and the 'File=' is taken as a user label. The App does nothing with this. The example above does not include this option but if it did, the 'Item' would show as 
    • 'FIL_Link : This is a map of Amsterdam - File=Maps/Amsterdam.jpg'   

 



MAP_Link display

     Initiate a Link to Google Maps, passing the location specified as the initial point.

  Features :

  1. Location A - the location requested.
  2. Main screen - Google Maps - use all the normal Google Maps functions.
  3. Return - use the hardware return key (ie. looks like a U-Turn sign) to return to the previous screen.

  Additional Information :

  1. The information following the 'MapLocn=' text, is the initial location used by Google Maps.
  2. Information between 'MAP_Link :' and the 'MapLocn=' is taken as a user label. The App does nothing with this.
      • eg - 'MAP_Link : A map of Amsterdam - MapLocn=Amsterdam'

 



VID_Link display

     This will start a VIDEO (MP4 or similar).

 No example screen.

 

  Features :

  1. Main screen - Video player - use all the normal video buttons (ie. Play, Pause, Forward, Back,etc).
  2. Return - use the hardware return key (ie. looks like a U-Turn sign) to return to the previous screen.

  Additional Information :

  1. The information following the 'File=' text, is the place in your phones directory structure that the file is located. WEB_Link display

     This will display a Website.

  Features :

  1. Main screen - the website (scrollabel, pan-able, squeeze and expandable).
  2. 'Exit' button - return to the previous screen.
  3. Return - use the hardware return key (ie. looks like a U-Turn sign) to return to the previous screen.

  Additional Information :

  1. The information following the 'WebAddr=', is the Website address .
  2. Information between 'WEB_Link :' and the 'WebAddr=' is taken as a user label. The App does nothing with this.

 


  

Event Update

     This screen allows you to ADD or UPDATE an 'Event'.

  Features :

  1.  Top Banner   -   shows 'ADD a new Event' and the Trip - OR - 'EDIT Event' and the Event.
  2.  Date   -    'Event' date. This can be updated by the following buttons:
    • '- 1'  button   -   subtracts 1 day from the date.
    • '+ 1'  button   -   adds 1 day to the date.
    • 'Set'  button   -   displays a dialog to allow you to set a specific date.
  3. Time   -   the time for the 'Event'. This can be updated by the following buttons.  
    • '- 30'  button   -   subtracts 30 minutes from the time.
    • '+ 30'  button   -   adds 30 minutes to the time.
    • 'Set'  button   -   displays a dialog to allow you to set a specific time.
  4.   Place - Location of the Event. Select an option from the spinner or type a place in the entry field. 
  5.  Event - click the Event spinner and select from one of the 10 pre-defined Event types (see list below).
  6.  Additional Information - depending on the selected Event type you will also need to supply additional details (see list below).
  7.  'Cancel' button - abort the entry or updating of this Event and return to the previous screen.
  8.  'OK + Again' button - (only shows in ADD mode) save the new Event BUT stay on this screen to ADD another Event.
  9.  'OK' button - save the new Event OR update the existing Event, then return to the previous screen.

   Events and Additional Information

The following table show the 10 different pre-defined Event that you can choose from.

For each Event the Additional information required, is listed. The type of entry fields is also shown, where the following applies -

    • Select - a set of selections is shown, select one of it's values.
    • Enter  - an entry field is shown, type in the data relevant for the Event.
    • Select or Enter- a spinner and an entry field is shown. Note the following :
      • select from the spinner - the value gets placed in the entry field
      • once a new value is entered into the entry field and then saved, it will appear in the spinner values next time

Item Update

     This screen allows you to ADD or UPDATE an 'Item'.

  Features :

  1.  Top Banner   -   shows 'ADD a new Item' and the Trip - OR - 'EDIT Item' and the Item.
  2.  'Expense Account'   -   this area will only be seen for Items in the Expenses Item Group'. You can either pick an Expense Account from the Expense Account spinner or enter a new Expense Account in the Expense Account entry field.
  3.  'Item Group'   -   click the Item Group spinner and select from one of the 6 pre-defined Item Groups.
  4.  'Item'   -   either pick an Item from the Item spinner or enter a new Item in the Item entry field.
  5.  'Group Items' / 'All Items' heading   -   depending on which text is showing the following is applicable -
    • 'Group Items'   -   the Item spinner will show Items normally associated with the Item Group.
    • 'All Items'   -   the Item spinner will show ALL items.
  6.  'All Items' / 'Group Items' button   -   this button can present in 2 different ways -
    • 'All Items'   -   a click here will make the Item spinner show ALL Items.
    • 'Group Items'   -   a click here will make the Item spinner show Items normally associated with the Item Group.
  7.  'M_ N_ S_' button   -   repeated clicks will alter the 'Item Prefix' (explanation below) from no prefix, to M_, to N_, to S_. 
  8.  'Item Data'   -   depending on the 'Item Prefix' (see below), various fields can appear and disappear in this section. To change the 'Item Prefix' click on the 'M_ S_ N_' button. See the table below which explains the fields shown in this area, in more detail.
  9.  'Cancel' button   -   abort the entry or updating of this Event and return to the previous screen.
  10.  'Reset' button   -   clear the fields on the screen and start over.
  11.  'OK + Again' button   -   (only shows in ADD mode) save the new Item BUT stay on this screen to ADD another Item.
  12.  'OK' button   -   save the new Item OR update the existing Item, then return to the previous screen.

   Item Prefixes and Item Data fields

There are 4 types of Item Prefix allowed and each one will display different fields in the 'Item Data' section. The following table show the 4 types and details about them -

  Additional Information

The following is relevant for Items, Expense Accounts and (where Items have an S_ prefix) Item Data.

  • Select or Enter- a spinner and an entry field is shown. Note the following :
    • select from the spinner - the value also gets placed in the entry field
    • enter data into the entry field - this will override what is in the spinner 
    • once a new value is entered into the entry field and then saved, it will appear in the spinner values next time

 


 

Expenses

     These screens show all Expenses for a Trip in both detail and summary forms.

  Features :

  Expenses Details

  1. Top Banner - shows 'EXPENSES' and the Trip.
  2. Purple Headings - separates Expenses into their Expense Accounts.
  3. Blue Headings - separates Expenses into their Date/Place groupings (within Expense Account).
  4. Light Blue lines - Expenses other than those with the 'Money' prefix. These are like notes or comments and are not involved in the Summary totals.
  5. Light Purple Lines - Expenses which have the 'Money Prefix' (M_). The line shows the Time, Item type, currency, Expense amount, Home currency and the amount of the Expense converted to your Home currency. These are the only form of Expense which are involved in the Summary totals.
  6. 'Summary' button - takes you to the Expenses Summary screen.
  7. 'Cancel' button - abort the entry or updating of this Event and return to the previous screen.

  Expenses Summary

  1. Top Banner - shows 'EXPENSES' and the Trip.
  2. Purple Lines - Expense Accounts and their total for the Trip.
  3. Red line - the overall total for all Expenses in the Trip.
  4. 'Details' button - takes you to the Expenses Details screen.
  5. 'Cancel' button - abort the entry or updating of this Event and return to the previous screen.

 


 

List of Trips

This screen shows the complete list of Trips available.

Features :

  1. Top Banner - shows options.
  2. 'Trip Name' entry field - enter the name of a new Trip.
  3. 'Add' button - create a new Trip with the name given by 'Trip Name'.
  4. Green Banner - a heading showing 'ALL Trips'.
  5. Black lines - the name of Trips available.'Cancel' button - abort the updating of these Settings and return to the previous screen.
    • Click a line - switch to that Trip
    • Long-Click a line - do one of the following
      • EDIT the settings of the Trip
      • DELETE the Trip

 



Trip Settings

This screen allows you to UPDATE the settings for a Trip.

Features :

  1. Top Banner - shows Day, Date and Trip.
  2. 'New Name' - enter the new name that you would like this Trip to be called - no entry, no change.
  3. 'Date Format' - select the format that you would like your Dates to show as (for this Trip).
  4. 'Time Format' - select the format that you would like your Times to show as  (for this Trip) .
  5. 'Currency' - up to 5 currencies can be entered. For each one, enter a 3 character code (eg. USD) and the conversion factor the App should use when converting back to your Home currency. The 'Items used in' is calculated by the App and reflects the number of 'Items' that use this currency.
  6. 'Home Currency' - the currency that you use every day. Your Home currency may or may not, be one of the 5 currencies.
  7. 'Defaut Currency' - one of the currencies entered above. This is the currency which will initially display when you enter a 'Money' Item.
  8. 'Cancel' button - abort the updating of these Settings and return to the previous screen.
  9. 'OK' button - save the updated Settings, then return to the previous screen.
